Southeast Cement Corp’s disappointing 1Q24 results

Taiwan-based cement producer, Southeast Cement Corp Ltd, has reported its 1Q financial results for the period ending 31 March.  The company saw a 9.3 per cent YoY increase in revenue, from TWD528.05m (US$16.29m) in 1Q23 to TWD576.89 in 1Q24. Pretax profit also rose by an impressive 178 per cent during this period, from TWD19.51m to TWD54.24m. Phinma to invest in PHP2bn Davao plant

Philippines-based Phinma Corp plans to invest approximately PHP2bn (US$34.7m) in a new cement plant in Davao to further consolidate its presence in the cement market. Vietnam exporters looking further afield

Cement sales in Vietnam continue to struggle versus their year-ago levels. Sales were down 17 per cent YoY to 5.113Mt in March 2024, from 6.161Mt a year earlier, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Outlook improving for Indonesia cement demand, clinker exports robust

Cement sales in Indonesia amounted to 65.501Mt in 2023. This is an increase of 3.4 per cent YoY compared to the 63.346Mt reported in 2022. Regional sales were a mixed bag, with over a third recording sale contractions.
